Eight is Great!!!!!

Today is Ryan's eighth birthday.......he has been counting down the days for weeks and weeks and last night he started counting down the hours. Up at 5.30 am wondering around the house looking to see if anyone had left any presents out for him.......I had them hidden so he had to wait until 6 am when I sprung up out of bed refreshed and ready for a new day.......NOT!!!!! He was very pleased with all the goodies he got and I think he was hinting at a day off school so he could stay home and play with everything.

Megan was chucking a big hissy fit because there weren't any presents for her...... she was so cranky about it at one stage I had to send her out of the room to go and settle down.

Here is a cute pic of my big boy with his new Roosters hat........ I don't think he was really allowed but he wore it to school and when he came home it was still on his head.

For those of you who don't know this is a WWE Champion Spinner Belt cake......... I made it myself it only took 5 hours in total........ I am so glad I don't have to do anymore cakes for another year because I am so slow at this kind of thing....... all the kids thought it was pretty cool and ate it all up..... I told their teacher that I put extra food colouring in just to give the kids a real sugar high for the rest of the day!!!! Ha ha too funny.

Out of all his presents from Mum and Dad I think this one was a big hit...... it's a WWE Hell in a Cell Cage........ he got a few of the wrestlers as well to go with it. I now have a Hell in a Cell Cage as a centre piece on my dinning table...... should give us some interesting table talk tonight at dinner I'm thinking.
That's about it for today I am off to go and cook the birthday boy his favourite dinner....... spaghetti meat balls smothered in bocconcini.......mmmmmm my mouth is watering already.

Oh before I forget, I received an email from a very nice lady last night saying that she couldn't leave a comment on my blog because it only allowed Google users........the problem is now fixed and anyone and everyone can now leave a comment....... so go on give it a go!!

A big post

During the holidays the kids and I went on a little drive (5 hours) all the way to Gooralie for the last time........

Our much loved friends Nathan Kelly and Lilly are moving back to Melbourne......... I know we don't live near them but it's great being able to get in the car and go visit them when we wanted...... it's a little harder to jump in the car and drive to Melbourne, just might have to get wings and fly!

This is Nathan and Kelly's rooster we called him Willy Mason (my son is obviously a Roosters fan) , well Willy and all his girls have come to live with us and our girls........ this will be the first time our girls have ever seen a rooster before so this should be interesting.

The dirve back home was very funny...... here I am driving along with two kids in the car 7 hens and not one but 2 roosters. Would you believe that when we had a pit stop in Goondiwindi on the way back through Harrison started screaming out " They layed an egg they layed an egg", the kids were all laughing and I thought they were just having me on.........sure enough there was an egg! Later that day we stopped at a service station to get a drink we left the door open to let the smell of chook poop out of the car and while we were inside Willy Mason decided to crow his little heart out!!!! Cock- a- doodle- doooooooooo........... got a few strange looks it was very funny......not funny when he decides to have a competition with Bruce Lee (the other rooster) at 3 in the morning....... I'm told I'll get used to it!!!
Here is Ryan and Lilly she is now 6 months old and sooooo cute, she giggles she rolles around and the kids wouldn't leave here alone...... there was almost a fight a few times about who got to hold her first and for how long.
Here is one of my favourite pictures taken from our visit to Gooralie....... up at the pig sheds all those little pink piggy ears.
We went into the sheds to catch a piglet as we always do when we visit and this time we got the kids to just squat down and be still instead of running and chasing them....... this is what happened.....the little pigs came right up to us and we were able to touch and pat them...... they are very inquisitive little creatures and all you could feel was their little squishy noses touching and nibbling just checking us out basically it was great fun.
Here are some of the bigger pigs.... this time we said hello from outside the shed.
I did notice this one big porky sitting down having a little rest........... I think he just wanted his picture taken.
Here is Ryan getting up close with the big fella's.
We did manage to catch a little one for him to hold........I would have loved to take this one home for a pet problem is they grow into the biggest pigs you've ever seen.
Ryan had to tuck his shirt into his jeans because the pigs were sucking and nibbling on his shirt...... love the face!!
Outside we found a mountain of sawdust..... the kids wanted to slide down it on their back sides.....wouldn't that be nice a but crack full of sawdust....... obviously I said I mean yelled out NO!!!!! before it was too late.
Ok back home now and on Sunday night just on dark we decided to light a little fire and cook a few marshmellows and fill our bellies up bofore dinner......as you do!
Perfect weather for a fire........ we all enjoyed sitting around it trying to keep warm.
Here is Megan attempting to kill her marshmallow.
Next time I think we'll do the whole camp-oven damper thing....... mmmmmm yummy!
Well there you go I finally got that post finished......... it's been sitting in my drafts for a while now I just haven't had time to get to it.
It's about time I went and got stuck into decorating this birthday cake now that it's out of the oven and all cooled.

Who Said.......

once both the kids went off to school that you'll have soooooo much time to do the things you want to do? What a load of rubbish.......Not True!!!! It just never stops...... Ryan came home yesterday with yet another note from his teacher for another after school sport....... I thought two was enough. I think the kids need to be just that.....kids, and they need at least a few afternoons at home to do ALL that homework they have to get through.

My days are usually spent trying to catch up on all the usual things that have to be done around the house.......these are not always achieved! I love taking time-out to catch up with friends and have a coffee as well....... yesterday I went to Tamworth with friends and just had a girls day out it was wonderful...... I was a little naughty and spent way too much..... more of that later.

This week is a busy one for me..... Today I'm on birthday cake duty for Ryan's 8th birthday tomorrow.... I hope it all comes together just like the picture I have in my head. Athletics Carnival on Friday should be good and I'm looking forward to that one...... hope it's not to cold though.

What I'm trying to get at is my life right now is way tooooo busy to do the Scraparooney thing..... as I've noticed some of you have been asking my friends about it and what happened. You could have asked me you know...... I don't bite!!!!!! Lately I haven't even got time to keep up to date on my blog...... look here I am at 7am whilst having my morning coffee doing this....... how bad is that!! Anyway I've got to go as I have two children I need to get organised and onto a bus in 40 minutes......... not liking my chances at this stage it's really cold and no one wants to move from the heater.

Catch Up!!

I know I've been a bit of a slacker lately with my blogging....... school holidays and going away for a few days didn't help either! So I've got a bit of catching up to do and I will try very hard to get it all done over the next few days.

A few weekends ago when Megan had her birthday party my parents came up from Orange to join in the fun, the day after the party we went for a little drive over to Nundle..... it's really pretty country side over there and there are a few cute little craft and antique shops as well. We found this Tea House which was once an old gold mine..... yes the building is built on top of the mine and there is a big shaft in the middle of the room which has been lit up so you can see to the bottom, there is also a mine you can walk into...... so cool, and the coffee and slice is very nice as well.
Mark and Dad went for a little drive around while Mum and I went to the Nundle Woollen Mill, this place is sooooo nice and I totally didn't expect what was inside...... one of the most gorgeous boutiques I have ever seen, all woollen garments of course it was just beautiful.

In one little corner of the shop was some wool which had been spun and dyed at the Mill..... the colours were so vibrant it made me want to go home and knit..... Hmmmmm

On the table in the middle was a beautiful display of these funky knitting needles, I couldn't resist I had to have a set..... orange with white spots. Don't know what I'm going to whith them because it's been years since I knitted anything. I just had the carpet in the lounge room cleaned which was great except the man who came out to do it wouln't shut up!!! A job which once he got into it only took 15 minutes took him 1 hour and 15 minutes!!! Arrrgghhhh. I now know that his daughter has just started scrapbooking and is going to do some pages on her cat and a holiday she went on in New Zealand, I got the run down on the holiday as well. I now know that he built and extension on his house and all about his neighbour. I know that there has been a death in the family and the entire life history on that person and everyone that person every knew........ so there!!!

Now that I've caught up on a bit I'll attempt to get back to it later, now I've got to go catch up on some ironing.

Party Time!

On Saturday we had Megan's Birthday Party at a Wildlife Park just out of town....... it was a fantastic place to have a party and the kids had a wonderful time. The party table was over near one of the BBQ areas........ all the cute little goodies came from "Party in a Box" it makes organising and shopping for a party all too easy.
Mark was on BBQ duty....... the apron isn't his it belonged to Vicki who thought he'd look good in it.
Everyone enjoyed the animals........ they even got to cuddle the Koala's feed the Kangaroo's.
There were many other animals to look at and once the kids had done that there was a big play area..... a great time was had by all and we were all very tired at the end of the day.
Here is the cake.........it took me two attempts to make the thing..... the first one got stuck in the cake tin and when it did come out it was in about 50 pieces...... 2nd attempt worked thank goodness because I was getting a little cranky by this stage as I had sooooo many other things I needed to do that day...... all up I think it took me around 4 1/2 hours to complete then another hour to clean the kitchen of all the mess and failed attempts. I was quite pleased with the end result and the way the icing turned out........ thanks for the tin and all the tips Bronwyn!!
Here is the gang once we rounded them all up.
I'm so glad we put the party off for a week while we all recovered from the bug going around because that meant that Nanny and Grandfather were able to travel from Forest Reefs which is the other side of Orange........ they had a wonderful time and the kids were very excited that they were coming all that way just for a party.
That's about all I have time for today................ Oh! one more thing..... have a look at what I got in the post yesterday.....
This is my brand new Making Memories Precision Paper Trimmer....... so excited as this has been on back-order for months and months.......... I was beginning to think that it was never going to come in and I was becoming a little desperate because my old trimmer has seen better days. I had another one arrive as well but it has already been sold.
The kids and I are going to get some more chooks and maybe a big rooster tomorrow to add to our little family....... very exciting!!
bye for now

Happy Birthday Megan

It was a week ago I know but better late than never!! My little baby has turned a big 6....... here she is with one of the presents she got, this parrot is a very clever toy and Megan has not stopped playing with it and talking to it........ I'll be glad when the batteries run out so we can all have a break!

Megan wanted to go to McDonald's for lunch, so off to town we go I was hoping this would perk her up a bit because she wasn't feeling the best.... I think she had a touch of that horrible bug that had. When we ordered our lunch the only thing she wanted was a frozen coke...... now I know she is sick usually she tries to order half the board! Within about an hour she went from a happy little person sooooo excited about her birthday to this........
After McDonald's the kids wanted to go to the park and kick a ball, this lasted about five minutes then Megan just sat and watched...... looks miserable doesn't she.I made a quick little cake for her when we got home knowing that it probably wouldn't get eaten because we weren't well, Megan really came to life when she got it!!
I can't believe this is the same kid who only a few hours ago was soooo miserable.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME.....hip hip hooray!!!
I'm so glad our whole family are over this bug it has taken about two weeks...... and for the first time ever I have been too sick to get out of bed and look after the kids...... thankfully they are old enough to get something if they need it. I will be booking myself in for a Flu injection next year!!
We had planned on having a birthday party for Megan early in the week but had to put it off until this Saturday just gone...... it worked out better anyway the weather was perfect and no-one was sick. I have pictures to share but I'll do that in another post.
bye for now

I thought I'd let you all know why I haven't blogged for a while....... I've got this horrible bug going around and it's not just me it's my whole family...... some have it worse than others.
Yesterday I thought I was over the sweats coughing until my throat is raw all the aches and pains but today I feel worse........ so back to bed for the 5th day only I have to wash everything first because everything is sopping wet...... it's like I had a shower with my Pj's on and went straight back to bed.

It's my husbands birthday today and I'm trying my hardest to prepare a lovely dinner for him. I've made the cake now all I have to do is ice it, and the roast made it to the oven now all I have to do is all the trimmings........ so I had better go and do it because what energy I do have is running out fast!
