Baking Frenzy!!!

A bit over a week ago while doing my grocery shop I came across a big bag of bananas ( 12 in all ) for the ridiculous price of $1.74, I thought they may have been a bit on the nose but to my surprise they weren't even over-ripe.......I thought even if they were too ripe my chooks could have them for dinner.

Now what do you do with 12 huge bananas that need to be used in the next day or so?

Make a load of muffins........ and then make some more!!! What a bargain!!! It probably cost me about $5.00 all together to make 12 extra large muffins and 80 medium sized muffins ( I added choc chips so the kids would eat them ). How's that for a super saving!!! I only hope that the kids don't get too sick of them in their lunch boxes.......I might have to make something else and rotate.
Most kids ( make that every kid I know ) are picky eaters, my two are no exception! I think they get some of their likes and dislikes from their father...........he won't eat a fresh tomato, yet he'll eat tomatoes out of a tin......figure that one out!!! I remember years ago before kids and marriage we grew a huge vegetable patch, he insisted we plant 20 tomato plants ( not 2 which would have been the more sensible thing to do ), only after we started picking ripe tomatoes did he inform me that he doesn't eat them!!!! What the, you're kidding me aren't you? So I spent many hours making sauce.....lots and lots of sauce.

Anyhow what I was trying to tell you is that my kids hate pumpkin, I bake it, mash it, I disguise it and they still won't eat it. That is until I turn it into pumpkin soup.........they love it so much they always come back for seconds......I don't get it!
Here is something else I attempted last week.....yummy apple pie. It's not the first apple pie I've made but it is the first time I attempted to do the pastry from scratch........it worked, yay for me!
And now for something totally unrelated.
Isn't he fabulous!!! I love his head piece.......looks like he just home from the Mardigra Parade. I found him at the local show a week ago and I was very tempted to find his owner and beg him to sell him to me.
Here is another chooky I fell in love with..........I want some of these to add a bit more colour to the chook pen.
That is all I have today.

It's Eisteddfod time again.

I have been trying really hard to get caught up with things around the house so I can sink my teeth into some serious scrapbooking.......I've got some new goodies on the way can't wait to use them.

But first of all I have to get a few other projects finished, Eisteddfod starts on Friday and it looks like I'm the "Prop Person" for grade 1.....fun fun fun!

I turned this.......

Into this..........
And once it was painted it turned into a huge predator which lived on my dining table for 3 days. It's so amazing what you can do with an old discarded cardboard box! The kids think it's awesome.......and I gotta say I think it's pretty good shark costume also!! OK I've got to go and work on some more props.....bye for now.

Oh the PAIN!!!!!!

This story starts around 8 - 10 weeks ago. Early one morning I was in the bathroom brushing Megan's hair trying to get her ready for school when.........Oh shit that hurt!! She had stepped back and stomped on my big toe with her school shoes on. Yes there was blood and a bit of cursing...the type of thing I can't repeat. It looked as though the corner of my toenail had been pushed down into the flesh, I thought it might be sore for a day or so and it would get better.

Oh how WRONG I was.!!!

Since that day I have had many many sleepless nights because the blankets are touching my toe, or the kids are bumping my toe....by accident, I can't begin to tell you how hard it is to try and not bump your toe on something!!! I haven't even been able to put a pair of shoes on.....thongs are all I can wear and with the weather getting colder by the day this does not make me happy!!!
Why don't you go to the Doctor I hear you say? Well I have already been three times and had minor procedures done.......OUCH!! Yesterday I went in to have a minor surgery performed on my toe a "Wedge section removal for an ingrown toenail", this was my last resort I didn't want to have this done but after being stomped on a few more times my nail had been pushed all the way down to the bone.

Are you cringing yet?

Having the procedure done wasn't that bad really....I had Megan with me for support she was off school for the day because some parents don't believe in keeping their kids home when they are sick, they like to share the misery. Megan watched the whole thing the blood didn't even freak her out, I couldn't watch all I could do was dream about being able to put shoes on.

I had to stay for about 30 minutes and wait for the bleeding to stop and during that 30 minutes the anaesthetic wore off...........OH THE PAIN!!! I never imagined that one big toe could cause such problems and PAIN.... OH THE PAIN!!!

When the pain stops ( hopefully by Monday ) I'll be able to put thongs on and then in a few weeks shoes!!! I think I'm going to treat myself to a new pair of knee length boots when this is all over......can't wait!!
Something like this perhaps!
Just kidding!! Something more like this would suit me better.
OK I've gotta go and take some more drugs for the PAIN!!

Ten, Eleven, Twelve..... Thirteen Things....make that Fourteen!!

Now I know that we all love our children unconditionally, I mean that's just a given isn't it!! That uncrollable urge to nurture and provide for our offspring kicks in and somehow some things don't seam to matter like;

  • When your toddler discovers that they can take off their poopy nappy and they do it on your carpet, better still in their cot then they play in it and draw pictures on their wall.........Awww that's OK I'll clen it up.

  • When you cat mysteriously gets shut in the milk compartment of your fridge and isn't found for 30 minutes........That's OK we'll put a blanket on her and she'll warm up real quick!!

  • When your baby is in a high chair and is experiencing new taste and textures, then decides that throwing it all over your kitchen, and your new white shirt makes a great game!.....Never mind I'll get changed.
Well, I decided that I can only tidy up, pick up and bark orders so many times a day before I know that it's a total waste of time.
In honour of Mothers Day I really wanted to make myself and all the other Mothers out there who can relate with me have a laugh, so I put together a list of ten things which I'm going to do to my children when they have flown the coop and have built their own little nest!!

  1. I'm going to tell I'm only going to stay a few nights when really it's going to be at least 2 months before they get me out the door.

  2. I'm going to leave a drop of pee on their toilet seat. Use up all the toilet paper and not replace the toilet roll, then on my way out I'm not going to flush or wash my hands!!! That'll impress their visitor which will be arriving in ten minutes.

  3. I'm going to break something, something which I know I shouldn't have been touching in the first place......then I'm going to try and put it back together with "clag glue", that way it'll hold just long enough until I'm gone!!!

  4. I'll drop my dinner on the floor under the table to make you think I ate it all up, then I'll sneak snacks from the pantry and hide bits of evidence under the lounge, under my bed or anywhere I can shove it, all because I know where the bin is I'm just too lazy to walk the ten steps to get there. And just for fun I put an Icypole under one of your scatter cushions

  5. I'll go to the pantry and open everything which looks interesting and when I've decided I've eaten enough of it or I didn't really want it in the first place I'll just shove it back in anywhere it'll fit, hopefully when you go to get something out everything will either fall out onto the floor or be stale!!!!

  6. I'm going to take my clothes off and leave them on the veranda, the lounge room, under a cushion, your car, hallway, your bedroom I'll even shove them in with the clean pile of washing if I'm not standing too far away from it.

  7. I'm going to spread little bits of stuff all throughout your house like Leggo and Polly Pocket, then along with all the other crumbs and crap I've left lying around I'm going to sweep some of it up into a dust pan and dump it in your nice new car!!!!

  8. When I have a shower I'm going to use a whole tin of shave cream and draw pictures with it all over the shower screen then finger paint in it, I'll dig holes in your soap put a small surprise in the hole then cover it back up. When I get out I'll stand on the tiles not the mat because it's already too wet! When I go to clean my teeth I'll smear toothpaste all over the mirror and taps and leave a big bit of spit running down the side of the sink.

  9. I'll cry, whine and act sick if they ask me to help clean up!!

  10. I'll eat lots of candy, leave the wrappers all over the house then with my sticky hands I'll touch and draw on every window in the house, touch every door knob and their computer mouse!!!!

  11. I'll go into their rooms try on all their clothes and shoes, then dump them all in a big pile in the middle of their room.

  12. Wake them up at the crack of dawn ( weekends only ) jumping around and banging on stuff, then I'll jump into bed with them.

  13. Did I mention that I'll cry, whine and act sick if they ask me to help clean up!!
  14. I'll start a fight as big as World War II or chuck a tantrum as soon as they get on the phone and can't hang up to stop me. It'll be worth it just to see them stomping their feet and shaking their fist at me while trying to mouth what they are going to do to me when they get off.

Now despite the fact that I could easily make this list much much longer and you now think I've got it in for my kids I don't, I love them very much and I wouldn't change a thing about them, I certainly couldn't imagine life without them.

Now once again in honour of Mothers Day I hope you all had a bit of a chuckle, and I know that most of you were nodding your heads while reading this......don't deny it.

Why don't you leave a comment and tell me some of your stories....so we can all have a chuckle at you!!!

Rugby Weekend.

We went to Walcha for Ryan's first game of Rugby Union on Sunday. Despite the fact that Walcha is one of the coldest places in the state and it took us 2 hours to get there....it was a wonderful day, not that cold at all, and Ryan eventually fell asleep after an hour of asking " are we there yet", he was slightly excited.

Here are the "Red Devils" ready for action.

This is about the only action shot I got of Ryan.....the sun was way too bright and the game was way too fast.

The Red Devils played 4 games and won each game.......the boys were so proud of themselves!!!

Here is Ryan taking a break in between games.........

Here is Megan all rugged up for the Rugby with a cute little scarf that I made for her. Did you notice that she now has no front teeth.....a couple of weeks ago she twisted, wobbled and pulled until the second one came out, it was really hard to watch but she was determined to even it all up and get another visit from the tooth fairy!!

Here is the scarf a little closer.......Pink and Orange are two of my favourite colours at the moment.
Speaking of colours....... I'm crocheting Rayn a big woollen snuggle blanket in this great colour combination. I've almost finished one for Megan as well....just waiting on some wool I've ordered to come in.
That's all I have for today........bye.

The life of a cat!

My luscious Lulu she's just so purrrrrfect, and she is totally spoiled.....how could you not give a kitty princess that looks like this everything she wants!!. I now know what I'm going to come back as!!!! I have found her asleep in many unusual places around the house but this one was just so funny I had to share. She is asleep in my flower pot!!

"I don't care if there is a plant underneath me....I'm comfortable and that's all that matters"

"Did you say something?"
"Ahhhh.......I am Priness Kitty and I can do what ever I want"
"Please go and fetch me a snack.....I'm feeling peckish"
"Now please be on your way and leave me alone to streeeeetch a little more"
Well that pretty much sums up what Lulu does.....I don't mind because she is kinda cute and real soft to cuddle.
Happy 2nd Birthday Lulu.

Hope you all have a great weekend...bye for now.
