How many fingers?

Nine.....that's how old my beautiful boy is today. He thinks he is all grown up now because for the first time he didn't want his mum making a big fussy cake loaded up with lots and lots of sugar and food colouring ( teachers love that kind of thing ) and taking it into his classroom to share with all his classmates!! I knew this time would eventually come when he thinks that mum taking pictures of him eating cake with all the other kids would be too embarrassing!

OK, here is another one of those things I've been working on.......
Have you worked out what they are yet? SOCK SAVERS!! How many hours have you spent picking out the grass seeds and prickles out of your kids socks, or have your kids complain about prickles getting into their boots. You can't buy sock savers for kids anywhere!!! I'm so over it so I decided to do something about it, great idea isn't it? I'm thinking of listing these on the Etsy store as well for about $10, but if you want some before hand let me know and I'll whip some up for you on my trusty machine.

A few of you have asked how much I sold some of my luscious felt creations for, I thought about this for many hours and took a look at how much similar items went for so this is what I came up with after taking into account the cost of materials and the many hours I spent hand stitching them all.

Cupcakes
$4 each or 6 for $20
Strawberries
$2 each or 6 for $10
Cookies
$4 each or 6 for $20

Plus Postage

Just send me an email if there is anything you want, just give me a few days to bake a fresh batch for you.

bye for now

Fresh out of the oven!!

While I've been without my computer I've been busily making all sorts of things out of felt, Megan loves to pretend that she baked them and serves them up to everyone for a snack.
These would have to be my favourite cupcakes so far.......aren't they sweet?
This was my first attempt at a dozen small strawberries, a little fiddly to make but well worth the effort.
The next batch were large ones.........much yummier than the little ones.

I sold a batch of cupcakes some strawberries and a few cookies today......yay so excited that people actually love them and think they would make a great addition to their child's pretend play toys!!! I'm seriously thinking about opening an etsy store just to see how some handmade things would go.........I'll just have to put my thinking cap on and come up with a bit more creative goodness.

Oh, and I made half a dozen cookies to go with all the other goodies.
School went back this week....I so would have loved another week at home with the kids..... a few more days of fighting, screaming at each other for the silliest of reasons and a permanent mess throughout the house would have been just perfect!!!! I love them both.....I really do !!

Thanks for all of your comments....I love love love them!!

Take care and see you real soon.

Everything is gone!!!!

Last Friday morning my computer died.....zip, dead, nudda nothing!! OMG I felt like curling up into the foetal position and crying!!!!! I had photo's from the past 8 years on there.....EVERYTHING IS GONE!!!!!! Luckily I had some sort of back-up, I saved the majority of my photo's on disk each month......only I got a little lazy and didn't do it for the months of May , June and July this year.

I've had to hi-jack my husbands secretary's computer to just let you all know what is going on, hopefully I'll be back up and posting photo's by tomorrow...all going well that is!

Just a quick thanks to all of your lovely comments on those cute little cupcakes......I've got loads more to share with you so call back soon!!!

Man oh man this is slightly addictive!!

I lovin' these so much I've made a dozen already! These are going to be great for a little person's pretend play......a tea party perhaps, a pretend bakery or even a picnic.
I've got a bit of an idea brewing for these stinkin' cute cupcakes.......stay tuned if you think you'd like some for your special little person.

Photo Overload!!!!

For the past few days we've been down at our farm which is a few hours away from where we live, the views and the scenery are just gorgeous....

Apart from growing a few crops we mostly run alot of these..........We went to clean up a few old fallen down trees and burn them, sounds like hard work doesn't it? Well yes it was but we had a fantastic time.....and I think I burnt up around 10,000 calories in just a few days, what a bonus!!!!

The first night we cooked out dinner in the camp oven......it was just perfect.

Megan had a great time collecting wood and throwing it on the fire.......I think I said something in my last post about lighting a campfire being great entertainment!!

We drove around late in the afternoon checking on a few things, and chasing a few ( more like 50 to 60 ) kangaroos to see how fast they went.

Mark checked a few paddocks to make sure the grass was growing!
I caught Megan just staring into the distance........not quite sure where she was!!
The next day we cooked dinner in the camp oven again.....
Lamb Chops......they were finger lickin' good. Can't get much more Australian than that!!!At one stage Megan got little too close to one of the huge fires and some of her hair melted......her hair is now slightly layered at the back. It could have been alot worse if her hair wasn't tied up, she was banned from throwing sticks on the big fires after that!!!
Ryan found this old cow skull.......Megan thought it was a dinosaur head!
She then found a funny looking rock and thought it was a fossilised dinosaur egg......she was very disappointed when she realised it was just a rock.
This old emu lives over at the in-laws farm, it's been there for at least 30 years. I hate the thing.....I remember it sat on some potato's trying to hatch something.....it's one crazy freaky bird!! It sorta attacked my MIL once and my FIL and my Husband stood back and watched not concerned at all, It took my MIL about 2 minutes to scare the thing off, I've been scared of it ever since and I never let the kids go outside alone when we visit!
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

One down....

....and one to go!! Yay for me I finally finished this 100% wool blanket I've been working on for Megan. The worst part of it all was stitching in all the ends and joining all 100 squares.
To finish it off I did 3 rows of dc around the outside and for some funny reason it wants to curl up...maybe after I give it a bath in some wool wash it will flatten out. It's really heavy and great to snuggle into, and the final measurement turned out to be 150cm x 150cm. Now I have to finish Ryan's off......I've only got about another 50 squares to go.....wooohoooo!!!
Hope you are all having a great time through the school holidays.....even though it's a tad cold!!! My kids don't seem to feel it as much as I do, even as I sit here typing this post they are outside in the wind and rain doing something......maybe finding some more wood to build a fire with, as I said great entertainment and a great way to get your paddock cleaned up!!!
OK gotta go thanks for calling in.

July 13, 2009

On the weekend we decided to get our camp oven out of the box and give it a run. Saturday night we built a big fire and burnt marshmallows and made a damper and on Sunday we decided to cook a Beef and Mushroom Ragout. It took 4 hours to cook and OH Man it was so yummy!!! I added a few sausages to the mix to make a little more kid friendly and I left the chunks of sausage big so they didn't get mixed up with the steak when serving!
The kids loved the fire and hung around it most of the day.
Megan liked the fire so much that she didn't come inside at all throughout the day....not even for lunch!!!! Great holiday entertainment and a great way to get your yard cleaned up!!!
Thought I might leave you with this cute picture I found a few days ago while looking different fabrics on a few blogs.........love the colourful lanterns!!!
Thanks for stopping by.

I love mushrooms and when I saw one of these stools on Melissa's blog a few months ago I wanted one. As luck would have it my sister only lived a short distance from the shop and even better knew they lady who owned the shop where Melissa bought hers so I asked her to check them out.........I really wanted it for Megan's room, I had to keep it a surprise for her birthday so even though I ordered it a while back it only arrived this week.
The cute little felt mushrooms next to the stool I made from a pattern I found on Melissa's blog also........thanks Melissa for all your creative inspiration!!!!

As I was saying my baby girl had a birthday this week......the big Seven.
Wasn't she over the moon when she opened a gift containing one of these........
I have never seen her brother be so nice to her...... ever!!!! Now he's counting the days down to his birthday hoping that he gets one also.

Speaking of big brother's her is Ryan at the Rugby a bit over a week ago ( in need of a hair cut I know ), he loves this game and he and his team mates are getting better each week it so good to watch.
Unfortunately at this game one of the boys in the under 13's broke his leg and the Ambulance had to be called........guess who was standing over the poor boy the whole time the Ambulance Officers were treating him ??? Yes she is one big sticky-beak, and she came and told us all that it was OK the boy wasn't dead, he just broke his neck!!!!
It took another 20 minutes to explain that they only put a neck brace on as a precaution, as they do with most accidents!!!
OK, I'm going now as we are about to light a big fire outside and make a damper in our camp oven over the hot coals.....fun fun fun!!!
