Apparently someone had traded it in on a new machine which meant this one was destined for the tip! Lucky I was there to rescue this beautiful antique!
It is in perfect working order, even has a new power cord.
I was telling my mother about my new find and she told me that she learnt to sew on one just like this at school.
I have some antique sewing patterns which I'm going to frame, I think they'll look perfect hanging on the wall above this beautiful piece in my new sewing room.

Wow! I can't believe that they were throwing it out if it was working, lucky you.
I think that this was a true 'gift of serendipity' - unexpected and lovely, and it was really meant to go to you because you will use it to create lots more of your beautiful little owls.

WOW! How lucky are you right now! That's just gorgeous!!! Love the idea of frames patterns too.
Fantastic and it looks in good working order. Right place at the right time some things are meant to be.
Good things happen to people like you my lovely Brenda, it was meant to be!!
My mother has her mother-in-law original 1890 industrial Singer from India. It's amazing, still hums along & every service her repairman says "NEVER SELL IT". To think she says it's for my eldest brother, no, he's a rocket scientist, not a seamstress!! Gimme gimme. Love Posie
What a fantastic find. Nice to be rescued by someone who will love it dearly! Will be fabulous with your old patterns framed, lovely idea.

Lovely.
I had one just like it..I remembered it weighed a tonne. The machine hinges at the back and there is a compartment underneath.
