Flea Market Finds!

It's been a while since I joined in on Sophie's Flea Market Finds but this week I have something I'm rather excited about to share.

Earlier in the week when the girls and I met for our usual coffee and chit chat session we got talking about vintage fabrics and things, this got us all inspired to go and take a look at a couple of Op Shops around town. I couldn't believe that one of the first things I laid eyes on was this old brown suit case....the kind I had when I first started school, does that mean I'm vintage also? I've had visions of an old suitcase stack under the window in Megan's new room, to be used for some fun storage for maybe some dolls clothes, puzzles even her latest craft creations.

When we visited my sister and her family in Tasmania after Christmas I started my collection with the big red suitcase, I got it from Ruby's Room in Hobart.....the kind of place I love to shop! The new suitcase may not be vintage like I had visioned but it's going to go really well with the red theme and I think a mix of old and new will look pretty cool.

The orange patterned paper lining on the inside of my new little suitcase is in almost perfect condition. Guess how much this little beauty set me back?

$3.00

I almost thought it was a miss print, $3.00 sounds kind of crazy considering I would have paid up to $30 for it. Now I'm on the lookout for some more vintage suitcases to complete my stack!

If you want to see some more Flea Market Finds head on over and say hello to Sophie.

Hope you are all having a nice weekend.

Your cases are fantastic! I had a little brown one just like that too! There is a picture of me somewhere holding it tight on my first day of kinder with tears streaming down my face..eeek, you're right, that could mean we're vintage...no...perhaps we were just very stylish for our age..

Score!! I love the mix of colours & old with new. You've possibly seen my $1 suitcase on the Shop Handmade blog, but you get what you pay for . . . the front is locked & you can only open it (old instrument suitcase with bluey purple velvet lining) from the back broken hinges. Only planned on using it for display, da dah!! Love Posie

They look great together - I think mixing it up is a fantastic way to go - now you will have extra storage and vintagy goodness to boot!

Love the suitcases. I'm currently planning a family holiday to Tassy in September so I was thrilled when you mentioned Ruby's Room as I'm trying to make a list of all the wonderful vintage stores I want to visit whilst I'm there. Any other referrals?

I love the mix of new and old. And you just can't beat the price! I have a collection of vintage suitcases that got for "a song" at the local thrift shop. My girls keep asking my if they can have them...maybe someday...
Blessings!
