Vintage Books.

I'm not in the habit of destroying beautiful old books but I was feeling a bit crafty.
I've seen some beautifully folded books on someone's blog not too long ago, I really wanted to find those images again for a little inspiration but I can't for the life of me remember who it was.......so I got some stamps out insted.
This project is pretty slow going at the moment but I'm really enjoying the creativeness.

Day 1 of Blogtoberfest!

While I was pretending to be my husband's assistant yesterday afternoon I was doing a little blog surfing and I gave tinniegirl a visit, just in time to find out that Blogtoberfest was about to start. Last year I discovered it half way through the month and was quite disappointed that I had missed out! I immediately signed up and now I have a whole month of daily blog posting ahead..........I'm looking forward to this challenge.

So here we are with my craft on the go!
I'm sure some people don't quite understand why I do the things I do, like take some hand stitching along with me to the pool while the kids play instead of a book or a magazine to read.
I don't think that spending time with the kids is time wasted......in fact it is the best time spent! I do think that sitting beside the pool for 3 hours eating chips and rubbish from the canteen is wasted time. I prefer to take along a bit of hand stitching and be a little productive if I can, it also stops me from visiting the yucky canteen......which is a good thing!
I do sometimes swim with the kids, but this time of year is still a bit on the cold side for me!
Ryan and Megan didn't seem to mind the cold until they got out in the fresh air.....brrrr! We all had a great time and I only got a few strange looks, looks from people who just don't quite get me........maybe they're the strange ones!
Thanks for visiting!

Boy Bunnies

Here is a custom order of three bunnies I finished yesterday afternoon, they are going to three special little boys for Easter.
Not much creativity happened at my house today, it was a day spent mostly in town at the local fabric shop.......not a bad place to hang out.
I'm looking forward to having time to list a few more items in my Etsy Store over the holidays and maybe making something new, something I've been trying to put together in my mind for a few weeks now, I could of made one last week but I thought maybe I shouldn't rush it.....best to get it right the first time round.

Hope you all had a creative day.

Lady Beetle Hairbands.

I love the smell of rain, and today it's been raining since I woke up. The rain makes for a perfect day to create something, no background noise from the TV, no kids arguing, just the sound of rain on a tin roof.......perfect.
Here are some little beetle hairbands I've been busy making, they look super cute in Megan's hair, I do think I should make them in a few more colours just for something different......I know lady beetles are primarily red but I think they'd look pretty in any colour. If you would like one or two just send me an email, they are only $6 each plus $1 postage.
Only a couple of school days left for term 1 then we break for a few weeks over the Easter period, I'll be so glad when Thursday afternoon comes and all the Easter crafting we have to do is all over with. I'm not sure what's going on but I think a few of the teachers went overboard this year, firstly the kids had to blow out a few eggs and decorate them into little characters, make a hat for the Easter Hat Parade, make a model of the Easter Bunny and finally construct some sort of device to surround an egg so when it is dropped from the top of a ladder it doesn't break......yeah like that's not going to happen!

All a bit much isn't it?

Tweet Tweet!

Yesterday I made a few little birds, I made similar ones at about Christmas time but this time I adjusted the pattern a little so I could make them out of linen instead of felt.
I found some old twigs and hung them up to see how they looked.......when I walked into the room this morning the whole thing looked so pretty with a little sun shining on it! It looked like a mass of cherry blossoms.
I need to cut out a few more and get crackin' as I still have heaps of things I want to achieve over the next week.
I might even try and string a few of the birds together with a little bell and see how it looks.....providing I can find a bell in time.
Ok I've got to go, we've just finished cricket for the day and now we have to go to a Rugby training afternoon.......lucky me I got canteen duty!!
Thanks for stopping by.

Stitching and Creative Thinking!

Here is a glimpse of a new cushion I've been working on.........I'm was hoping to have it finished by now but between all the commotion in the chook yard and having a dose of the runs yesterday I just didn't feel like it!
Remember how I told you that Ryan thinks he's a bit of a whiz in the kitchen, well he spent most of Sunday cooking up a storm for us all, he wanted to cook something for dinner so I asked him if he could do a potato bake. I told him he needed to dice an onion, I also told him to be quick or his eyes would start to sting and he'd cry!
This is what I found him doing..........now that's creative thinking!
Dinner was nice.......and he was very proud of himself, and so was I !!!
Have a nice day.

Busy Stitching!

Here is a little something I started working on yesterday afternoon.......
Not quite sure how it's going to turn out but so far it's looking good, that was until I ran out of DMC! Bugger bugger! So off I went all the way to town this morning to get some more, guess which coulour I wanted and then guess which colour was the only one Sold Out!
So now I have to change my plan, I'm going to do something pretty much the same.....just using different colours!
What are you doing?

Good enough to .e.a.t.

Last week I mentioned that I was going to spend the day working on something other than "owls", I had an idea I've been wanting to try but somehow I got totally sidetracked from my original plan and this is what I ended up with!
I don't know how or why I ended up making pears but I totally love them.....the only thing is I can't decide whether I like the letters stitched or not! Which one do you like better stitched or not stitched?
I might make a few more of these and list them in my Etsy Store and see how they go. Speaking of Etsy I have just listed two more owls " Oatis " and " Apple ", please note that for now that these little creatures are made to order so allow me a little time to lovingly create your order.
"Oatis"
"Apple"
I'm off to cut out a few more orders! Hope you are having a great day!

Too Cute!!

Take a look at this little fella.....his name is Oatis! I only finished making him a short while ago and just had to share.
What do you think of my new Memo Holders? While I was waiting in line at the Post Office yesterday one of my kids found them, I was only going to buy one ( the white one ) and I saw the red one, I couldn't decide so I bought them both as I'm a little partial to red and white at the moment!
Oatis is looking for a home.......a nice loving home!
Today I think I'll make something other than owls.....I have an idea just have to see how it goes. That's how most of these creations start.....with an idea and alot of trial and error until I get the pattern and method just right, sometimes it works and sometimes I have to put it in the bin!!!
What are you creating today?

Meet my new friend "Mustard".

Mustard is a quiet little owl, she doesn't talk much.........she likes to observe.
She is beautifully hand stitched and created with love, her detail is gorgeous!!
She isn't sad.......just likes to sit and watch what's going on, she is awfully quite and doesn't make much noise.......perfect I'd say!!
There is something missing and I think I know what it is...............Friends!! Yes that's it!! She needs some little friends to to keep her company!!
Stay tuned!

My Creative Space.

I've been busting to get back into something a little creative since we arrived home from our holiday (I've got to say it's a little hard with two demanding children to keep occupied at the same time ) and over the past two days I stole a few moments to myself to come up with these little creatures.
It's a Lady Bug invasion!
Super cute and can be worn as a brooch, clipped onto your bag, backpack or anything. These particular little cuties ( along with some other goodies ) are going on a little trip to Tasmania to appear at Middleton Country Fair on the 6th of Feb, My sister Linda will be there with all of her Tin Animals ( I have pictures to share real soon ) and she has offered to put some of my creations on one of her tables! Yay, so excited about the whole thing..........it would be even better if I could go back down and go the the Fair with her!!!
I need to work on some "branding" for all of my little creations real soon, if anyone has any fantastic ideas on where to get some labels etc. done please let me know.
If you want to see what some other creative people have been up to head on over to kootoyoo and have a look, say hello while you are there!

It's all a Blur!

The closer Christmas gets the crazier it is getting for me....everything is turning into one big blur! It's just after 6.30 am and I thought I'd pop in and say hello because I don't think that I'll have the chance to later on.

This weekend I'm going to have a stand at the big Tamworth Markets.......it's totally crazy considering I sold out of alot of goodies at the last markets and trying to cut and sew together enough to replenish my stand is exhausting!!!! I think I'll be alright though......if I don't have to go without power for another day that is!!! ( Country Energy have been doing lines maintenance ).

So, here is a little ( and I mean little ) of what I've been up to!
These gorgeous Owl Pincushions are so cute I'd really like to keep them all for myself......in the new year I'm going to give miniature ones a go.
I've managed to get some more kids belts done also........belts for the grown-up's will be done tomorrow I hope!
So that's me.....almost got it together, I've got a few orders to complete and things to post ( Jodie please send me your addy ) I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel...........or is it just a hallucination?
Take care

An Owl with a purpose!

About a week ago I received a lovely email from Leone about the cute little owl brooches in my banner......she was wondering if I could make her one only bigger so she could use it as a pincushion! Well you know me I'm always up for a challenge so I thought about it for a few days and on Sunday this is what I came up with................
Isn't this the cutest little pincushion you've ever seen?
The little fella even lets you stick him in the back as many times as you like.........doesn't complain too much!
Next thing I knew the little red one had friends...........so cute all lined up, those big eyes just keep staring at me wondering if they are going to get more friends?
They aren't too tall, perfect to perch somewhere around your work area..........just to keep an eye on things!
They all have " Ouch" on their back just for fun.
You don't even have to use them as a pincushion if you don't want to. I'm selling these for $20 each.........the red one in this picture is gone but stay tuned because they are about to get a few more friends in different colours.
I'm off to cook dinner in this stinkin' heat wave/dust storm.........and then I'm going to stitch a few more goodies together.
Call back soon.

My vintage find!

Well I don't know exactly how vintage it is but it kinda looks old ......my little Jelly Mould that is! Yesterday I made a quick trip over to Tamworth to place an order for a stack of " D's " and I got a little side-tracked and found myself looking around in a second hand store. You never know what you'll find! I had in my mind finding an old trunk to store a few things in but when I saw this I had to have it!
I could use it for anything I suppose....... hey, I might try jelly in it one day and see how it goes, but for now I'm going to put my most used threads in it to keep them nice and handy!
While snooping around I also found three of these little metal owl coasters......well I think that's what they are. Super cut......not sure what I'll do with them yet.
Only another 2 weeks of school left to go......can't wait! Really looking forward to a big holiday and so are the kids.......I think we are all a little exhausted this time of year!
I've got another super busy weekend on again........apart from a few Christmas party's I'm going to do my best to restock some of the goodies that sold out at the markets last weekend and do it all again just a few days before Christmas!
Thanks for stopping by.

My First Markets.

On Saturday I took all the goodies I've been making over the past few months to my first Christmas markets in Goondiwindi. I had the best time EVER!!! It was so nice to see so many familiar faces and the support from all who attended the markets was truly amazing!!! So I'd like so say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by, commented on my colourful stand, and who bought some goodies!
Here are some of my belts, super gorgeous, they were made to fit a very little person all the way up to adult sizes. They were a huge hit, so much so that I've already gone shopping and bought some more gorgeous fabric to get crackin' on the next batch!
The little brooches on the white T-shirts were a hit also, they sold out real quick, I wish I had made more of them!
I also had loads of Journal covers.........great for a special gift.
Here is is altogether.........I had two huge tables and I still couldn't put everything on display.
Here is a close up of some of the belts and all the hair clips and pins I've been crocheting.
I love it all put together........so colourful, one sweet lady said she felt like a kid in a candy store!
Here are some of the owl and cupcake brooches.
A bucket full of Monsters.
A tree covered with gorgeous little hanging bird ornaments. I was rather excited about the tree....I picked it up at a gorgeous shop in Narrabri on the way to Goondiwindi.
This would have to be the mother of all cupcake stands......it was so huge I had to leave the top tier off because no one would be tall enough to see what was up there!
My tea sets went down well...........I'm cutting out more today for special orders which were taken on the day!
So there you go.....all my goodies on display!
I'm thinking over the next few days/weeks what I'll do is list in my side bar what I have for sale and the quantity, once it is sold out I then I'll make some more to restock as soon as I can. Please check back for that.....if you have an enquiry in the mean time please send me an email and I'll do my best to help you out.
