Things I'm loving.

Today I thought I would play along with Paisley Jade's " Things I'm Loving " and just share a few snippets of things which make me smile.

Firstly is the fact that I actually got some work done yesterday, it's amazing what you can achieve when your husband takes the kids to school and you can get an early start. I really enjoyed making some more little birds for a few orders I need to get done....I made sure to make an extra for Megan's room this time.
I'm loving the fact that there is some action out at our block. These big trenches are for power, water and phone. These two little possums are so excited!
I'm loving the look of my new Home pears!
I love it when I make something for my family ( Lemon butter ) and they totally eat it all in three days. Luckily I have plenty of lemons left and I can make some more!
If you want to join in head on over to Paisley Jade and say hello.

I'm excited!

I've been looking forward to today, not because Megan goes back to school...... I enjoy having her home, but because once she does I'm making a quick trip to Tamworth to do something VERY EXCITING! Wooohoooo!
I'll be back later with more.

While the end of last week was about completing many small orders .......
today was mostly about creating one of my favourites in a few different colours!
I'm totally smitten with the natural on black, it's a nice to change things up a little don't you think!

I'll be sure to take some real nice pictures of them when finished.

Thanks for stopping by.

My Creative Space....What's on the go!

I just had a look around my sewing table and noticed that I have so many projects on the go and things are starting to get a little cramped in my tiny work space!

I know that I should only work on one thing at a time, but I find that it drives me crazy if I haven't got any hand stitching to do of an evening so I tend to save those jobs later on. This allows me to get stuck into all the other bits and pieces throughout the day when the kids are at school.

Today I stitched up all the ruffles ready for piecing together the draw-string bags.
I have a new favourite.....the linen and dark blue one, it's so pretty!
There is a big basket full of body parts, I just have to stitch some eyes on the heads and I'll be able to shift this lot.
I usually stitch my pears of an evening, it's real easy to stop and drop if needed.......relaxing too!
There's also a bunch of Pirate Bunnies on the go as well as two quilts.........all that should keep me busy for a while!

If you want to see some more creative spaces head on over to kootoyoo and say hello to Kirsty.

This is exciting!

I've been selling some of my goodies to a really beautiful little shop called Urban Dweller in Samford QLD since they opened in January this year. The lovely Amanda told me that the Courier Mail were going to do an article on the shop and all the handmade items which they specialise in. I was just a little bit excited, I thought that my pears might be seen in the background of one of the pictures..........I certainly didn't expect this!
How amazing is this? If you look at some of the other items you can see a giant pear from Moose & Bird and in the picture below you can see some cushions from Thea & Sami...........she has her linen all through the shop, it's simply beautiful.
Here is a shot ( pinched from Thea's blog ) of the front of the shop......as you can see it's an old church!
Some of the goodies inside the shop, if you look closely you can see some of my pears on a shelf down the left-hand side.
And here is some more of Thea & Sami's work, all beautiful screen printed linens hanging on the ladder.
This is the kind of place I'd like to spend a few hours in but I live a little too far away. So if you are in the area please call in and say hello to the lovely Amanda and Therese.
The Courier Mail has another on-line article which features my pears also, you can see it here.

Hope you all have a great day planned.

Black Bird Cushions

Today was so nice and cool, it was an absolute joy to sit and create something without sweat dripping from my brow.
I made these four little cushions for a special order I've been working on. Loads of fun, I really enjoyed making something I haven't made for a while!
Because these cushions are so small ( 20cm x 20cm ) I had to make the inserts to go in them.
I also made this set of Love pears in red, I was thinking of making a few more for Valentine's Day or any time of year for that matter!
So sorry about the brightness in this picture, I don't know why it is but I can never get a nice picture of anything with red in it! These pears aren't fluro red......it's just my crap photography skills!

Thanks for stopping by.

P.S. The air-con man came and fixed my air-conditioner a short while ago! Woooohooooo!

Big Weekend.

Yesterday was spent making some more JOY pears and pricing some owls ready for posting to Shop Handmade. I have a huge order to complete today ( 30 owls ) and then I'll get stuck back into more goodies for Shop.
Even though I had another great weekend with the markets I'm totally finished with them for the year, I think Shop Handmade and on-line sales will keep me busy enough for the next few weeks. Actually I'm looking forward to slowing the pace a bit, I'm not going to stop sewing just slow it down...........I'm a bit over the 12 - 14 hour days.

I came home with a big box full of these beautiful Agave's, now I have to find about 15 big pots to put them in and try not to kill them in the process.
I did a big shop yesterday just incase the water goes over the road and we can't get through, all the rivers around us a flooded in a big way ( Peel, Namoi, Mooki ) and there is simply no where esle for the water to go, with more big rain on the way tomorrow who knows what will happen!

Yesterdays Christmas Fair!

It makes a huge difference when you go to a market where the stall holders are selected and just happen to be the nicest people ever! I had such a great time it was like we were all just one big family! There was lots of chatting, laughter and of course the customers were all so nice.....a few of them mentioned they have been following my blog, one lovely lady called herself the stalker, she was the sweetest customer I'd love to chat to her again one day because she was so funny!
I've been to markets before where the stall holder next to you doesn't even say hello.....like get over yourself it doesn't hurt to say hello does it! That wasn't the case at the 2010 Annual Christmas Fair for the Brain Foundation, one of the organisers ( Pip ) even looks after your stall if you want a loo break or to get a coffee and lunch! How amazing is that!!
I had a great day on the sales front but that was way surpassed by how much fun I had with all the gorgeous people I met.....some of which I had met through blogs previously, it was like catching up with old friends!
Now I need to get my sewing space cleaned up so I can start fresh, I only have two weeks ( 4 Dec ) until the next market and I'd like to get another big parcel filled with goodies off to Shop Handmade also!
Have a lovely day and thanks for stopping by.

Off to Market I go!

It's been one of the busiest weeks I've had so far this year with my sewing, it feels so good to get so much done and sent to various customers, and to finally be ready for the first of my Christmas markets in the morning..........I've already been to town and set my stand up so I won't have to rush too much in the morning, how good is that!

This will be the first time the people of Gunnedah ( apart from close friends ) will be able to see what I spend most of my time doing.......I hope they like what they see!

There's mostly all the items I've been making for a little while now and a few new ones.......sorry haven't taken as many pictures as I should have, here are just a few of the items I'll have on my stand tomorrow.
Some pears all done up for Christmas and some of the originals without bells and ribbon.
Loads of these little cuties!
I've taken my tree which will be adorned with gorgeous Christmas ornaments.
I think there is about 60 of these in various colours........all ready to hang!

Babushka hanging ornaments galore!
I had loads of fun making these and watching them all come to life!
I even set up a table in my house and set out some of the items to make sure everything would fit on the tables supplied and that it all looked nice.

These would have to be my favourites!
Fabric boxes made from linen and lined with some of the most gorgeous ticking I've ever seen...... all with a touch of Aunty Cookie on the front.
It's going to be a fun day and I'm really looking forward to meeting some lovely local people.
I must go and get some dinner......think I'll be having an early night tonight!
Thanks for stopping by.

Blogtoberfest day 27.

Sometimes we all need a bit of HOPE in our lives!
Last weekend I was lucky enough to have these pears featured in a weekender magazine on the Sunshine Coast........a big thanks goes out to Kylie the journalist who spotted my pears and had them put in the mag. Woooohoooo!

September 15, 2010

Ooops!

I caught this just in the nick of time.......just before I stitched up the opening!
It's been a great week so far, I've received some gorgeous fabric to work with ( which always makes my day ) and I've finally started a stash of goodies ready for some Christmas markets.......I know it's early but I remember the crazy frantic state I found myself in last year when I only gave myself a few weeks to get ready. This year I want things to be a bit different.

Thanks for stopping by.

Spicing things up!

Yesterday I spent the afternoon trying to "spice" things up a little! It was a little bit tricky trying to judge the amount needed for each pear and by late afternoon I think I had sniffed that much spice that I simply couldn't smell it anymore.........but this morning, oh boy do they smell good!
Today I have that much work to do it's not even a little bit funny! So what does a girl do.........have a coffee and then do a spot of shopping! Perfect relief for my stressed out overloaded brain!

I bought this absolutely gorgeous dress and because I'm a little challenged in the height department I didn't think that that should be the reason for not buying something I really liked and thought would look great with a pair of knee length boots and a bit of extra layering up top! So wish me luck because I'm about to hack into a very expensive little number with a pair of scissors!
Hope it all works out!

The winner is!

Firstly I'd like to give a huge thank you to all the gorgeous people who took the time to enter, and leave such lovely messages!
We tried to do something different for the drawing of this giveaway......meet Megan's pet chicken.
The idea was that the chicken would peck at one of the entries and pick it up........what do you think happened?
Things weren't going according to plan and the chicken didn't understand what he was supposed to do with the big shiny thing full of paper.....tasteless paper!
So we had to resort to the good old fashioned way..............drumroll please!
But before the big reveal, things became a bit tiring for the chicken and he took a nap!
Congratulations to Vicki who has a lovely blog called passion4pink.
You are soon to be the recipient of a set of these.......
Once again thanks to all who entered.
P.S Please excuse my daughters dirty fingers, she was outside building a cubby house with her brother at the time.
Have a lovely weekend.
