A Grasshopper and Polka Dots.

You never know what kind of creatures you are going to find around our house from one day to the next. Most of the little creatures Megan finds she wants to keep as pets ( yay for that ), just like she wanted to keep this big grasshopper after finding him on our veranda. I didn't want anymore ( things ) living in our house in containers so thankfully I convinced her to let it go on its merry way.

Take a real close look at the detail on this fellow......truly amazing!
I cut out some tea sets yesterday but only got to finish one.......
This one is real pretty.............if you want it just let me know.
I bought some more spotty fabric yesterday and got a little excited about all the things I could do with it so I went back again this morning for some more......everything is about to be covered with polka dots so stay tuned for that!
Hope you all have a creative weekend!

Good or Bad.....you decide!

This is Alfie, I adopted him from the RSPCA a few years ago after Phoebe died. Now Alfie is one of those dogs which you don't know whether to love or hate.....only because he gets himself into trouble sometimes, like the time he did this!
Like this morning when I walked out on to the veranda and saw this.........
I know, I know what was the rubbish doing on the veranda? Well it was too dark last night and I was too lazy to go out and dump it in the big bin.
Now look at Alfie's face, he has alot of character for a little fella, one of his bottom teeth is always sticking up, he's scruffy, big brown eyes. This morning character wasn't going to get him off the hook for what he'd done......I certainly didn't need this huge stinkin' mess all over my veranda while I was trying to get two kids ready for school and out the door by 8.00 am. Naughty Alfie!!!
Or is he? This afternoon when we arrived home after tennis lessons Alfie was barking and warning us that one of these was near the house!!!
I put my big mud boots on and grabbed the shovel knowing exactly what he was barking at! OMG this Sucker was huge! The snake and I had a Mexican stand off for about 20 min he hissed and tried to strike at me a few times, I waited until the snake decided to slither away and went for it! I gave it all I could and tried to chop it in half but it's body was real tough and I think all he got was a bit of a back ache! Until we meet again I said to myself as my heart was nearly jumping out of my chest........and we will meet again!
So now I must decide is this little dog the little dog who thinks it's fun to rip my garbage to pieces and spread it all over my veranda, the little dog who warns his family of danger, is he GOOD or BAD?
I think I always knew the answer to that one...........thanks Alfie for protecting your family!

Look who came to visit.

Since we adopted a new dog we don't get many visitors like this anymore, but one afternoon last week this cute little fella was brave enough to come up to the house and have a look around.
Once we realised that he was in a tree right next to our house we caught Alfie and tied him up so he couldn't get to the Koala. He wasn't frightened of us at all.....I think in some strange way he knew we were protecting him from the dog, we were so close we could have touched him! I hope he comes back!
Onto another subject, I finished two Tea Sets that look like this yesterday, very pretty. I hope the lovely lady that ordered this one loves it as much as I do.
That's all I have to share today....thanks for visiting.

Photo Overload!!!!

For the past few days we've been down at our farm which is a few hours away from where we live, the views and the scenery are just gorgeous....

Apart from growing a few crops we mostly run alot of these..........We went to clean up a few old fallen down trees and burn them, sounds like hard work doesn't it? Well yes it was but we had a fantastic time.....and I think I burnt up around 10,000 calories in just a few days, what a bonus!!!!

The first night we cooked out dinner in the camp oven......it was just perfect.

Megan had a great time collecting wood and throwing it on the fire.......I think I said something in my last post about lighting a campfire being great entertainment!!

We drove around late in the afternoon checking on a few things, and chasing a few ( more like 50 to 60 ) kangaroos to see how fast they went.

Mark checked a few paddocks to make sure the grass was growing!
I caught Megan just staring into the distance........not quite sure where she was!!
The next day we cooked dinner in the camp oven again.....
Lamb Chops......they were finger lickin' good. Can't get much more Australian than that!!!At one stage Megan got little too close to one of the huge fires and some of her hair melted......her hair is now slightly layered at the back. It could have been alot worse if her hair wasn't tied up, she was banned from throwing sticks on the big fires after that!!!
Ryan found this old cow skull.......Megan thought it was a dinosaur head!
She then found a funny looking rock and thought it was a fossilised dinosaur egg......she was very disappointed when she realised it was just a rock.
This old emu lives over at the in-laws farm, it's been there for at least 30 years. I hate the thing.....I remember it sat on some potato's trying to hatch something.....it's one crazy freaky bird!! It sorta attacked my MIL once and my FIL and my Husband stood back and watched not concerned at all, It took my MIL about 2 minutes to scare the thing off, I've been scared of it ever since and I never let the kids go outside alone when we visit!
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

Look who came to visit.

Have a look who came to visit us this afternoon.......

He was so low in the tree we could touch him.....not that I'd want to take a look at the size of the claws on him......he looks like he wants a big squishy cuddle but you'd have to be an idiot to try it!!!!!
Here is a quick and simple card I made from some more scraps today......and I have to admit this one was lifted from somewhere I just can't remember where.
"Sleepy Head"
Here is my everyday life shot for the day..........lap it up Ryan because you won't be able to take a Nanna nap like this next week.......school returns for 2009 and back into routine which will be very nice.
"Fluffy Potatoes"
I made these absolutely yummo fluffy potatoes to go with dinner last night....they were a smash hit with everyone, even the kids cleaned their plate up. This particular recipe I got from here if you are interested.
I have to go and change the ice pack on Megan's foot because she was bitten by a green ant an hour and she has only just stopped screaming.......oh what fun!
See you next time

Catch up.

Going back to last Thursday afternoon when I had just gotten home with the kids from school I could hear Alfie our dog barking ( nothing unusual ) then I caught a glimpse of one of these striking at him.........
Please note that I didn't stop to take a picture of it.......although I did think about it!!!! This is a picture I found on the Internet. Trying not to alert the kids I got them in the house and grabbed the phone to call my husband........If the snake was smaller and less agitated I would have attempted to get it myself but Alfie had stirred it up so much that it was really pissed off and the shovel I was using only had a short handle........the snake itself ( Brown Snake one of Australia's deadliest snakes ) was approximately 4 feet long. I kept guard over it for about 10 minutes and it finally dived into a hole in the ground.......only 2 minutes before Mark had driven all the way from town to get it!!!!
On Sunday afternoon when I was going over to the shed to get the lawn mower out it was there again basking in the glorious sun.........well, it won't be basking in the sun anymore thank goodness........a shovel fixed that one. Now I know some of you are thinking how could you kill a snake when they are supposed to be protected.......let me tell you my children are a protected species as well and I will do what I have to to keep them safe!!!
On Friday afternoon we went to Goondiwindi for a christening which was to be held on Saturday....... had a fantastic time catching up with friends and even bumped into a few familiar faces down town.
Here we are waiting for all the guests to gather outside the church........you might notice that there aren't many pictures of Ryan.......every time I went to take a picture he went all grumpy and put his head down......Megan was very obliging as usual.
Here I am with my little princess.......
Here she is again....
We had a lazy Sunday morning at the motel and the kids had a bit of fun in the spa.
And here is the man we all went to see......only 8 weeks old cute huh! Richard took Mark for a little ride on his bike after breakfast....... the bike looks a little small in this picture but trust me it's not Richard and Mark are just two really big men!!!
Well that's it for today.......it's school holidays here and I thought I might take the kids to Tamworth for the day.
I forgot to say.....I am going to see my sister and her beautiful family for the first time since February 2004 next week....really looking forward to that!
Enjoy your day

Have a look....

..... at what I just found in my sink!!! I was just putting a few cups in the dishwasher and getting ready to make dinner when this climbed out of a cup. I pretty sure it was brought inside on something Megan brought in earlier which had dirt on it......... I could hear her washing something in the sink and didn't think anything of it..........isn't she a lucky little girl!
This picture makes me smile........ready to pounce!!
Thanks for visiting
