My Creative Space.

Wouldn't it be nice if on a sleepy Sunday morning you were woken to a tray holding a nice hot pot of tea?
Yes it would be nice......but it hasn't happened at my house yet! Still waiting!
So for now all I can do is dream about a peaceful Sunday morning with my cup of tea.......
and maybe a cupcake or two!

My Creative Space.

Today the kids went back to school.......I thought if they are well enough to drive me crazy and fight with each other they are well enough to be learning something in a classroom. So this morning I only had to battle with them for about an hour, they fought over poll position in front of the heater, they fought over who hadn't had their breakfast yet, they fought over who had to unload the dishwasher, cleaning teeth, brushing hair, the cat, who was looking at who......and it goes on and on. Please tell me I'm not the only person that has to deal with this on a daily basis......tomorrow I think I'll take them to school in their PJ's if they're not ready on time.

So for today's creative space I'm just going to share what is on my tray this morning. Last night after the kids were all quiet and asleep I started to cut out a few tea sets ready for assembly today. It's been a while since I made one of these and I find myself having to think twice about what to do. That's what you get for not writing some kind of instruction to go with the pattern, a bad habit I need to break.
So if you want to join in the fun this week head on over to kootoyoo and say hello.

Busy Week!

It feels like I haven't had a full day at home to get things done like a bit of sewing and the dreaded domestics for a week or more. There has been a few things that I needed to attend at school, our local show was on , Ryan's first game of Rugby for the season......which happened to be a 2 hour drive away! I did however take a little box of things I'd been working on to do in the car, not the most ideal place but hey it's about the only time I get to sit still lately!
Lately I've had a few enquiries about these lovely cupcakes .......
and a few people asking me about my Tea Sets. So I think I'll try and make the time to get back into a few and list them in the Etsy Store, or you can just email me if you like! There is a huge amount of work that goes into making both the tea sets and the cupcakes and if I charged for my time......well lets just say I'd don't think I'd be selling many! So the Tea Sets are $55 and the cupcakes are $5 each, keep in mind that these are unlike your store bought tea sets, they make the perfect gift if you are looking for something special.

I have to go now........I'm going to give my new glue gun a bit of a go!

My Creative Space.

OMG!!!! I'm so super excited about this weeks Creative Space!!! Look what I picked up this morning.......
My old Janome now has a big sister!
My old one was one of the most basic machines and over the past few months I found it struggled to cope with the amount of work I've been doing. I had always planned to get my industrial machine out of the shed....but it is really big and I just don't have the room, so after last weekends success this is how I treated myself!
Here is a cute little Tea Set I made yesterday......will do Teabags for it today If I can drag myself way from my new toy that is!!!
There might be a few changes around this blog over the coming weeks......so please call back and have a look!
If you want to see some more Creative Spaces head on over to kootoyoo and say hello!
Can you guess what I'll be doing for the rest of the day?

My First Markets.

On Saturday I took all the goodies I've been making over the past few months to my first Christmas markets in Goondiwindi. I had the best time EVER!!! It was so nice to see so many familiar faces and the support from all who attended the markets was truly amazing!!! So I'd like so say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by, commented on my colourful stand, and who bought some goodies!
Here are some of my belts, super gorgeous, they were made to fit a very little person all the way up to adult sizes. They were a huge hit, so much so that I've already gone shopping and bought some more gorgeous fabric to get crackin' on the next batch!
The little brooches on the white T-shirts were a hit also, they sold out real quick, I wish I had made more of them!
I also had loads of Journal covers.........great for a special gift.
Here is is altogether.........I had two huge tables and I still couldn't put everything on display.
Here is a close up of some of the belts and all the hair clips and pins I've been crocheting.
I love it all put together........so colourful, one sweet lady said she felt like a kid in a candy store!
Here are some of the owl and cupcake brooches.
A bucket full of Monsters.
A tree covered with gorgeous little hanging bird ornaments. I was rather excited about the tree....I picked it up at a gorgeous shop in Narrabri on the way to Goondiwindi.
This would have to be the mother of all cupcake stands......it was so huge I had to leave the top tier off because no one would be tall enough to see what was up there!
My tea sets went down well...........I'm cutting out more today for special orders which were taken on the day!
So there you go.....all my goodies on display!
I'm thinking over the next few days/weeks what I'll do is list in my side bar what I have for sale and the quantity, once it is sold out I then I'll make some more to restock as soon as I can. Please check back for that.....if you have an enquiry in the mean time please send me an email and I'll do my best to help you out.

A Grasshopper and Polka Dots.

You never know what kind of creatures you are going to find around our house from one day to the next. Most of the little creatures Megan finds she wants to keep as pets ( yay for that ), just like she wanted to keep this big grasshopper after finding him on our veranda. I didn't want anymore ( things ) living in our house in containers so thankfully I convinced her to let it go on its merry way.

Take a real close look at the detail on this fellow......truly amazing!
I cut out some tea sets yesterday but only got to finish one.......
This one is real pretty.............if you want it just let me know.
I bought some more spotty fabric yesterday and got a little excited about all the things I could do with it so I went back again this morning for some more......everything is about to be covered with polka dots so stay tuned for that!
Hope you all have a creative weekend!

Snakes and Stripes.

Here is a picture of our luscious Lulu in one of her favourite spots to catch a bit of sun in the early mornings! This morning while I was hanging out some washing on the clothes line I saw Lulu playing with something, I watched for a little while thinking that she may have caught a bird or a mouse..............a snake! There she was playing with it while it was striking at her, I called Lulu away from the snake and back to the house.......away from dangerous toys!
Don't anyone panic she didn't get bitten, but if that toy she was playing with comes any closer to the house it's going to meet my shovel!
This Tea Set was a special order for a lady here in town, she chose this fabric because it matches her kitchen blinds..........did I mention stripes are really hard to work with when creating something round like a ball!
I had a few sleepless nights thinking about this one.........in the end I knew I'd just have to do it and not worry how I was going to tackle it! I think it turned out okay.......not really my "cup of tea" ( ha ha ha that was too funny )but I know she'll love it!
I going to cut out some more tea sets that have SPOTS not STRIPES ready to put together for the Christmas Markets in Goondiwindi to be held on November 28. My first markets.....feeling a bit nervous.

Trial Run.

Can you guess what this is?
Next time I try one of these I'm going to find a pattern and some instructions somewhere instead of thinking " Yeah that's simple I can do that no trouble ", well that would have been the case if I didn't want to try and do a few extra things to it!
Like put a big orange button and a piece of elastic on it to keep it nicely shut! ( I only had white elastic in my stash, thinking I should buy some black )
Put a specially co-ordinated pocket on the inside cover to keep something with which to write ( or scribble ) anything your heart desires!
Did I mention it's fully lined and has a layer of padding all the way through to make it feel nice and soft!
Walla! My first Journal Cover! I plan on making a big stack of these ( not all the same ) they would make a great gift for someone special, they have an A5 book inside so they are small enough to pop in your handbag.
Here is another Tea Set.....Pink and Lime.
I did make Tea Bags to go with the set I just forgot to take a picture of them.
Look how cute it is when teamed with some co-ordinating cupcakes.......delightful!
I made two of these one of which is already taken so if you want the other one you know the drill! And if you don't know the drill just send me an email.....first in best dressed!
Happy Friday everyone!!

My creative space today.

Today I made a couple of these Tea Sets ......
Cute and very bright......
Just waiting for someone to fall in love with it, someone like you!
So today is the day, the day that these little beauties now cost $50 plus postage......I put alot of time and effort into making them so I think it's well worth it for a very special gift.
Megan and I went to the dentist today.....wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, Megan was very brave and had her first filling all without any anaesthetic! The dentist thought it would be more traumatic for her to have a whole bunch of needles stuck in her mouth than it would be to do the procedure without them! He was right!
What did you do today?

September 9, 2009

Look who came to visit.

Since we adopted a new dog we don't get many visitors like this anymore, but one afternoon last week this cute little fella was brave enough to come up to the house and have a look around.
Once we realised that he was in a tree right next to our house we caught Alfie and tied him up so he couldn't get to the Koala. He wasn't frightened of us at all.....I think in some strange way he knew we were protecting him from the dog, we were so close we could have touched him! I hope he comes back!
Onto another subject, I finished two Tea Sets that look like this yesterday, very pretty. I hope the lovely lady that ordered this one loves it as much as I do.
That's all I have to share today....thanks for visiting.

It's a pretty one!

Here is a bit of a looky at one of the Tea Sets I've been working on over the past couple of days. This one is going to be real pretty!

I've got a bit of a production line happening at the moment, I just think it's way quicker if I do two or three of the same colour at the same time, so there are two of these pretty sets, one is taken so if you want the other one let me know.

Ok, best be off...cooking a lamb roast tonight.

Tea anyone?

I'm having a great time with these Tea Sets at the moment, I love collecting really colourful fabrics and creating something which is so pretty and alot of fun!

I've added a couple of tea bags to the set so you can have the whole experience and "dunk" as well. Don't forget I'll make you one of these for $40 if you like and I'll even try to do it in your favourite colour. This offer will only last until September 17, after that they will go up to $50, so get in quick!!
This Tea Set was a customer order, I'm pretty sure she won't mind me sharing it with you..... cute isn't it?
Here is the close up of the cute little tea bags.....
And just for something completely unrelated this is what I've been having for lunch for the past 3 weeks, I love fresh fruit.
OK, I'm off to go clean up my sewing area so I can start a new project without mess and clutter....this might take a while!
Thanks for all your lovely comments......I appreciate them very much!

Tea Set....Very Cute!!

Today I got around to finishing this special little project, I'm so in love with it and so is Megan.......looks like I'll have to make her her own special set as well.
It was a little tricky to make at first because I had to make up a pattern then figure out how to go about it all, but now I've done it once I'm sure I can do it much quicker next time.
If you really like my Tea Set and would like one for yourself I'll make you one for $40 AUD plus postage and handling ( I will try and find the cheapest option ). I do plan on making a few accessories ( included in price of $40 ) to go along with the Tea Set so check back for that one!
Send me an email if you have a special request.........I'm only too happy to give it a go!
Thanks for visiting.
